Rare Discovery
Qizai's tale begins on November 1, 2009, when this rare brown and white panda was discovered in the Sanqin Valley of the Foping National Nature Reserve. It was later relocated to the Shaanxi Rare Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Research Center and settled in Foping Panda Valley in Han Zhong City on December 28, 2014.

On January 29, 2017, Qizai made its debut on China Central Television's show "Aerial China" showcasing Shaanxi. Its fame grew further when the Panda International Organization announced adopting Qizai for life on November 20, 2019.
Legacy and Progeny
Despite engaging in four mating relationships, Qizai struggled to produce offspring resembling its unique brown fur. Finally, in 2021, Qizai welcomed its descendant—Zhengzheng, later named Bazi by netizens. Zhengzheng exhibits the characteristic features of Qinling pandas, with a short nose and round face, representing the typical Qinling subspecies of giant pandas.
Controversial Incident
On April 22, 2023, at the Qinling Four Treasures Scientific Park, a visitor observed Qizai biting the ears of another panda, Panda Po, through the glass, causing a stir in the media. Interestingly, Panda Po happens to be Zhengzheng's father, leading to speculation about familial connections.
